Oil

All types of vegetable oil and olive oil are certifiable Kosher: the procedure is greatly simplified for extra virgin olive oil and requires a single visit by the Rabbi for the issue of the annual certificate. Extra virgin olive oil is also certifiable Kosher Passover, but Rabbinic supervision is required during production at the oil mill and separate storage of the Kosher oil if bottling does not take place in real time in the presence of the Rabbi. In Italy many oil producers are Kosher certified, but few are Kosher Passover certified, also because not all the product offered is of Italian origin and/or produced at the oil mill in Italy.
